Olmsted Falls, Ohio - Riverview Pointe is proud to recognize our resident, Sue, for becoming an Ordained Deacon Minister. Sue was admitted to Riverview Pointe back in October of 2019. Sue enjoys spending time doing research online and continuing to better herself through education. Sue began to pursue becoming an Ordained Deacon Minister through an online learning program. She has received several awards, including a Christian Leaders Connection Award, Christian Ministry Award, all culminating into her becoming an Ordained Deacon Minister.

Sue was ordained by our long time Activity Volunteer and Pastor, Terry Willingham, at a special ceremony this past week. She was surrounded by her peers, staff, and her brother and her sister in law. Sue enjoys giving back to her community, and that has been a lifelong mission for her. She has lived in Florida and Ohio, where she taught an after school program for low-income children and Sunday school in her living room for about 25 children and adults. She has also started volunteering at Riverview by calling Bingo and teaching a bible study here for the residents. When asked why she wanted to pursue this ordination, Sue said, "I am taking these classes because I want more knowledge so I can teach better lessons as I continue my journey with God." Sue has never let her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis get her down. Sue believes "being disabled allows me to access to people I wouldn't without the disease…like doctors, nurses, aides, therapists, dietary workers, transportation drivers, other residents in my nursing home, my church, and the list goes on."
